I knew the movie I was auditioning for but I didnt know what the lines or anything would be. I was given a little bit of briefing that it was a boy who would be attending college and thats what I had to go with. I didnt know who the character was. It was really really classified. I went in and saw the casting director and then I saw Danny Boyle. I froze I was almost in shock. They were completely lovely. Danny Boyle was doing the other lines for me, he was reading along with me which was an incredible experience. Both of them were so lovely. Danny Boyle you couldnt meet a nicer person. Usually when you go for auditions you havent got it after two or three weeks. I think I had to wait about five weeks before I got a call back. I thought the thing was long gone. But I thought at least I got to meet Danny Boyle. One day I woke up and my agent was on the phone saying Id got the part. They auditioned a lot of people for that role and thats why it took so long. Thats when I found out who I was playing. When they told me Id be Begbies son I thought Oh Christ This is going to be a fun timeWhen they were sending me my section of the script it was so classified I had to install a programme on my computer so I could open the script and I couldnt see the rest of it only my lines. When Scot met Boyle again after landing the part he got some feedback. He said they were originally looking for someone who was going to be about 6ft 3in to 6ft 5in. Im only about 5ft 1. It was a great compliment. They masked that on the day. They made me wear bigger shoes with celebrity lifts in them because they wanted me to be taller than Begbie.
